SIMSBURY, CT — The Simsbury Police Department is up for re-accreditation and police want the public to let the accrediting agency know what they think of local law enforcement.

The SPD aims to be re-accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and it will conduct its review July 5-13.

Before that review, the SPD is asking for community opinions on the department and it has set up an online portal where folks can provide that input.

"The Simsbury Police Department values the opinions of our community and welcomes comment and feedback regarding the department's quality of service as well as any other information relevant to the accreditation process," wrote the SPD.

Accreditation is important to a police department because earning the designation means a department is committed to an approved list of strict industry standards.
