Simsbury Police Cracking Down On Disabled Parking Scofflaws

Police are urging folks to only park in handicap spaces if they have a permit.

SIMSBURY, CT — With June being "Accessible Parking Awareness Month," the Simsbury Police Department said it is reminding folks to only use handicap spaces if they have a permit.

The SPD reminded motorists that fines range from $50 to $250 for first-time offenses.

Police are asking that folks "be considerate" and not park in areas unless they have a special permit allowing for such parking.

"Your compliance allows others to safely navigate congested parking areas and access locations that would otherwise be inaccessible," wrote the SPD.

"By working in partnership, we can ensure that all residents can enjoy all the wonderful locations that Simsbury has to offer."
