Simsbury Police Join Chase of Farmington Armed Robbery Suspect

Five police agencies were involved at various times in the pursuit of the suspect's vehicle.

SIMSBURY, CT — An armed robbery at a Farmington gas station was followed by a five-town chase and ended with the crash of the suspect's car in Hartford Friday.

At 3:47 p.m., the Fastrac Sunoco at 989 Farmington Avenue was robbed at gunpoint by a lone suspect. The suspect fled in an awaiting vehicle being driven by another suspect and left the area. Farmington officers responded to the scene and broadcast vehicle and suspect descriptions to area law enforcement agencies, including Simsbury and Avon, Farmington Lt. Patrick Buckley said.

Avon police spotted the suspect vehicle and a short pursuit ensued that was disengaged. The pursuit entered Simsbury and continued on Nod Road to Route 185, where the pursuit turned east into Bloomfield, Simsbury Capt. Nicholas Boulter said.

The suspect's vehicle drove into Bloomfield, then Hartford. The car was ultimately stopped in the area of Sigourney Street in Hartford, near the Family Dollar store. Both suspects were captured, Buckley said.

There were no injuries during the robbery in Farmington. The names of the suspects are not yet being released, as the incident is being actively investigated by Farmington officers and detectives, assisted by Hartford police, Buckley said.
