Simsbury Police Officer Riding Bike For Fallen Officers' Families

He is raising money in memory of fallen Southington state trooper Aaron Pelletier, who was killed last year in the line of duty.

SIMSBURY, CT — A local police officer is going on a long bicycle journey to raise money and awareness to support families of officers killed in the line of duty.

The Simsbury Police Department said one of its own, SPD Officer P.J. Gronski, is taking part in the 300-mile "Police Unity Tour" bike ride in May to benefit families of fallen officers.

Starting in May and concluding on May 12 in Washington, D.C., the "Police Unity Tour" starts in New Jersey and ends in the nation's capital at the National Law Enforcers Memorial.

Currently, Gronski is seeking online financial support from the community to raise money for the cause.

Simsbury police said Gronski "will be joining several other local and state agencies to honor Connecticut State Trooper TFC Aaron Pelletier."

Pelletier, of Southington, was killed last May after being struck by an impaired motorist on Interstate 84 in Southington.

He was 34 and left behind a wife and two young sons.

All donations go directly to The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, Simsburypolice said.
