Public Hearing on Cannabis Ordinance February 27, 2023

The Board o f Selectmen and other boards and commissions have had hearings with the same information.

The special interest people with financial gain, have come out in favor of Cannabis sales in Simsbury.

Others from the industry and attorney influencers, were in favor of the sales.

The residents in Simsbury vehemently spoke out against the recreational sales in Simsbury.

Many Selectmen came to all the hearings, with the same groups for and against giving testimony.

Delaying a vote under the guise of not having any information is just another way of delaying the vote until after the municipal elections, where they wouldn’t be held accountable for their votes.

Using Massachusetts as a litmus test for unintended consequences of delay is ridiculous, since they are new to the game.

Colorado has had time to research the consequences of recreational sales and the research highlight the serious consequences to health and safety of the community.

A recent article in the Hartford Courant, Board approves cannabis farm.

“Despite long lines of speakers opposing a new cannabis warehouse near the city’s western border, New Britain’s zoning appeals board approved it Tuesday night.”

All the members of the Board of Selectmen have already decided against resident’s testimony against the sales in Simsbury and that they are in favor of cannabis sales, bending to political pressures.

All these hearings were just a charade to open government, but in reality the Board of Selectmen were solidified in their position for the increase approving cannabis sales.

Delaying the vote for 18 months will not change anything.

Simsbury needs leaders to represent them, not just follow the path of other communities.

The Board of Selectmen represent Simsbury, not other Towns.

The residents have spoken against the sale of Cannabis in Simsbury.

We need a vote now.

The residents of Simsbury should remember when these members run for re-election, remember their very important vote to “Change the Character of Simsbury” forever by voting for recreational sales of Cannabis in Simsbury and vote them out of office.
