Simsbury Selectmen To Open Charter Hearing Tonight, Continue It To Later Date
Despite the weather, Simsbury selectmen will have an in-person meeting Monday night, Feb. 23, with the charter issue being continued.

SIMSBURY, CT — The Simsbury Board of Selectmen plans to open a public hearing on Monday, Feb. 23, on proposed revisions to the town charter, but it plans to continue the hearing at a later date.
The hearing is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the main meeting room at Simsbury Town Hall, 933 Hopmeadow St.
The move means folks not willing to travel or view the meeting due to the storm have another day to weigh in.

Town officials announced in advance that the public hearing on the charter revision proposal would be opened and then continued, allowing residents additional opportunities to provide comment at a future session.
Residents who wished to observe the meeting can watch the live stream, while those seeking to speak during the public audience or public hearing portions could join remotely through the posted Zoom link.
Although the meeting will take place in person, officials encouraged participants to join remotely.
Information about the continued hearing is expected to be announced at a subsequent meeting.
"The public hearing legal notice states it is in person, and that is the only way we can open the hearing to continue it to a future date to let people come speak in person," Simsbury First Selectman Wendy Mackstutis said in a statement.
"We are under time constraints due to the charter revision timeline to hold the hearing within 45 days."
