Simsbury Senior Living Facility To Host Panel Talk On Vertigo

McLean in Simsbury will host a Feb. 26 panel on vertigo and vestibular disorders.

SIMSBURY, CT — A Simsbury-based senior living community is inviting residents to learn more about vertigo and other vestibular disorders at a public forum this week.

McLean will host “Beyond the Spin: Understanding Vertigo and Other Vestibular Disorders” on Thursday, Feb. 26, from 4 to 5 p.m. at the Garmany Performing Arts Center inside The Goodrich at McLean, 50 Sarah Lane, Simsbury.

The panel will feature Jenny Braddock, director of rehabilitation at McLean, and Eric Tharaldson, a physical therapist and vestibular specialist at McLean.

According to McLean, vertigo and related dizziness affect an estimated 90 million Americans at least once in their lifetime.

The community said vestibular disturbances are especially common among older adults, with 80% of those age 65 and older reporting some form of dizziness.

The discussion will focus on the causes of vertigo and available treatment options, including specialized physical therapy for vestibular dysfunction.
