Simsbury Skaters Receive Support in Ice Hockey Rankings

The Trojans are hoping for a deep run in the Division I tournament.

SIMSBURY, CT — The top 10 teams in the final regular season boys ice hockey poll did not change, but some of the positioning did heading into the postseason.

Ridgefield was again a unanimous selection of all 16 voters, followed by New Canaan and Notre Dame-West Haven.

Simsbury High School (11-8) just missed the top 10, placing 11th in the most recent balloting of media members and coaches.

Here are the top 10, with records through Feb. 28:

  1. Ridgefield (18-2)
  2. New Canaan (16-3-1)
  3. Notre Dame-West Haven (12-7-1)
  4. Xavier (13-6-1)
  5. Northwest Catholic (16-3-1)
  6. Fairfield Prep (11-9)
  7. West Haven (14-5)
  8. Hamden (11-8)
  9. East Haven (15-3)
  10. Suffield/Granby/Windsor Locks (14-6)

Others receiving votes: Simsbury (11-8), New Fairfield/Immaculate (15-3-2), Watertown/Pomperaug (15-4-1).
