Boys hoops tries to re-bound, plus weekend hockey and track.

Simsbury High School Sports Schedule for Friday and Saturday

Friday

The boys basketball team (8-10) looks to bounce back as they host Rockville at 7:00pm. The Trojans have lost their last 2 games.

Saturday

Members of the track team will be at Hillhouse for the State Open Championship Meet starting at 12noon. Danielle Robbins will race in the 600m. Tory Schuler goes in the 1,000m.

Julia Levesque will line up for the 55 hurdles, while the 4 x 200m Relay team of Levesque, Jada Jenkins, Kolu Wynne, and Robbins will participate in that race. For the boys Joel Kirk runs in the 1600m. Levi Lilly goes in the pole vault.

Two boys relay teams qualified; the 4 x 800m team of Josh Boltz, Chris Jackson, Joel Kirk, and Kevin Stanko as well as the Sprint Medley team of Josh Helmkamp, Will Rice, Merrit Gasho, and Stanko.

The boys hockey team travels to Xavier for a 7:30pm face-off.

The girls take on Hand in a scrimmage at 8:00pm in Northford on Sunday.

Wednesday Results

It was back to the future for the boys hockey team (5-8-3) as they skated to a 3-3 tie with Conard. Phil Carignan scored twice while Steven Patria had the other Simsbury tally. Andrew Several was strong in the net with 16 saves. In early January the Trojans came back from a 2 goal deficit to tie Conard 2-2 in West Hartford.
