Simsbury High School Sports Schedule for Monday
The boys swim team visits Southington today at 3:45 p.m.
The girls hockey team has very little time to celebrate its second straight CCGHL title as they open the state playoffs at home tonight against Ridgefield at 7 p.m. The Trojans (17-5-2) skated past North Haven 4-3 Saturday to claim the conference crown again. Simsbury got on the board first as Steph Mathewson put the biscuit in basket in the first period. The Indians answered to tie the score 1-1. The Trojans then appeared to take control as they took a 2 goal lead on tallies from Sam Hulme and Tess Mackay. But, North Haven showed the kind of fight you would expect from a playoff team as they came back with 2 straight goals of their own. Jess Werle put Simsbury ahead for good in the final frame, assisted by Sam Arnold. Molly Melanson stopped 15 shots including some key saves late in the game.
