Simsbury Sports Digest for March 18
Another chance to shine for one Simsbury swimmer, while a diver finished a very successful season.

Two of the most decorated athletes in Simsbury swimming history are competing in their final meets as Trojans this week. Senior Matthew Morrison set school records in both the 6 dive and 11 dive format during his four years at Simsbury High School. Yesterday Morrison competed in his final event, the open state championships at Hamden High School. After a 2nd place in the Class L finals last week, his 16th place finish was probably disappointing. This should not obscure the fact that Morrison has had a terrific high school career.
Another senior who will be sorely missed is Christian Gronbeck. He holds school records in both the 500 freestyle and 100 backstroke, and Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at Yale University he'll have a chance to add to his impressive resume at the open state championships. Gronbeck will swim in two events, the 200 and 500 freestyle. Gronbeck won both events at the Class L finals last week.
