Simsbury Sports Digest for March 4
It's likely the end of the road for one team, while another starts the post season with the odds stacked against them.

Simsbury High School Sports Schedule for Friday and Saturday
Most teams have finished their winter sports seasons, so there are no games scheduled for Friday or Saturday, but one team that is still alive learned that it has a big hill to climb this post season.
The boys basketaball team narrowly qualified for the Class LL state tournament compiling a 9-11 regular season record. The bracket came out this week for the tourney and the Trojans are seeded 28th out of 28 teams. Their first round opponent is 5th seed Ridgefield on Monday night (the top 4 seeds have first round byes.) The Tigers had a very good season losing only twice. They spent much of the campaign ranked in the top 10 in the Hartford Courant's state basketball poll. The important thing for Simsbury is they made the playoffs, and in a single elimination format like this one, anything can happen, it won't be easy though. Tip off will be 7 p.m. Monday night.

Wednesday Results
The boys hockey team (5-12-3) meanwhile dropped its regular season finale 5-0 to West Haven. This game was likely their season finale as well. They will find out for sure on Saturday when the Division one State Hockey Tournament bracket is announced. 16 of the 21 division one teams make the tourney, which is based on record and other factors, but Simsbury is a long shot to get a nod.
