Simsbury Sports Digest for May 2
A step back in baseball, while lacrosse, tennis, and softball were triumphant.

Make it 3 in a row for the girls tennis team after they tamed Tolland 5-2 on Friday. Once again it was the doubles teams that spurred the Trojans (3-1) onto victory as they won all 3 of their matches.
Leah Anderson and Sarah Mattison in straight sets 6-3 and 6-4. Nicole Baker and Danielle Weingartner also posted a straight set victory 6-1 and 6-1. While, Audrey Goulart and Jenna Verrengia dropped the first set 4-6 before storming back 6-4 and 6-2. Natalie St. Denis and Emily Amarell also won their singles matches in straight sets. Simsbury will look to make it 4 in a row as they visit Southington today at 3:45 p.m.
The boys tennis team will play host to Southington at 3:45 p.m.

The baseball team was shut out by a strong New Britain squad 6-0. It was a particularly costly defeat because it was their 4th conference loss of the season against only one win. The Trojans (5-5) will try to get back on the winning track today as they host Northwest Catholic at 4:15 p.m.
The boys lacrosse team meanwhile had a very fruitful weekend as they won games on successive days in dominating fashion, 11-3 over Tolland on Friday and 12-3 over New Milford on Saturday. Those 2 wins stretched the winning streak to 6 games for the Trojans (7-3) who are back at it today in Guilford at 5:30 p.m.

Friday was a good day for the girls lacrosse team as well as they whipped Windsor 13-8. Today the Trojans will host Minnechaug at 4 p.m.
But no team was happier with Friday' s outcomes than the softball team who finally got off the schnide with an 8-7 win over New Britain. The Trojans (1-4) will look to make it 2 in a row today as they visit Northwest Catholic at 3:45 p.m.
