Simsbury Sports Digest for May 9

Simsbury dominated on the diamond, the court, and the lax field.

The boys tennis team overwhelmed South Windsor 7-0 on Friday. #1 singles player Eduardo Rosadio won in straight sets 6-4 and 6-0. All 3 doubles teams also won in straight sets Justin Keppel and Ethan Kuzivat 6-4 and 6-3, Omesh Kamat and Colin Kirkland 6-0 and  6-1, and Tim Donahue and Dan Brennan 6-0 and  6-0. Next up for the Trojans (4-2) is Newington at home today at 3:45 p.m.

The girls will travel to Newington today for a 3:45 p.m. start time.

The baseball team meanwhile shut out winless Bloomfield 16-0. Starting pitcher Kyle Richardson gave up just one hit in the win. The Trojans (8-5) pounded out 25 hits including a home run from Dylan Sullivan. Simsbury will hit the road tonight as they take on Southington at 7 p.m.

The softball team edged Rockville 3-2 to improve their record to 2-4. They'll look for win number 3 today as they host Southington at 3:45 p.m.  

The boys lacrosse team's winning streak now stands at 7 games after a 12-10 conquest of Hall on Friday. This game was close the whole way. Hall had a 7-6 lead at half time. The Trojans (8-3) outscored the Warriors 6-3 in the 2nd half. Next up for Simsbury is Amity today on the road at 4:30 p.m.

The boys track team competed in Middletown over the weekend. No team scores were kept, but Simsbury had a number of strong performances. Brian Eilers won the javelin contest with a throw of 182’ 9.” The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Josh Boltz, Robby Keefrider, Jefferson Wilkes and Kevin Stanko took 2nd place in that event.

Elsewhere on today's schedule... the girls golf team is home for Hall/Canton at 3 p.m.
