Simsbury Sports Digest for May 31
A measure of revenge for one team, while others open up state playoff action.

A little over a week ago the Simsbury boys lacrosse team saw its 11-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Glastonbury. Losing to the Tomahawks was nothing to be ashamed of, as the two teams had been tops in the CCC most of the season. The Trojans were looking forward to a possible rematch in the conference tournament. It came much sooner than anyone had expected. As a result of all the weather related postponements, the semi-finals were eliminated this year and the two best teams played for all the marbles Thursday. This time it was Simsbury coming out on top 12-10. Next stop ... the state tournament and a round one match-up with local rival Hall on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.
In other state playoff action ... the boys and girls will be on the diamond in Naugatuck. First pitch for both first round games is slated for 5 p.m.
The boys track team is at Willowbrook state park in New Britain today at 2:30 p.m. for the Class LL state championship meet.
