Simsbury Student Charged With Bringing Stun Gun to School
She was charged on a warrant with possession of a dangerous weapon.

SIMSBURY, CT - Simsbury police last week executed an arrest warrant on a local high school student who had brought a stun gun to school in mid-May.
Oneisha Williams, 19, was charged with possession of a dangerous weapon. She was released on a $500 nonsurety bond, and is due back in Enfield Superior Court June 30, according to judicial records.
According to a statement from Capt. Nicholas Boulter, on May 13, Simsbury High School personnel notified the Simsbury Police Department that a student was found in possession of an electronic defense weapon (ECW) or “stun gun” on school grounds. Police met with school personnel to investigate, and it was determined that Williams purchased the ECW through the internet for self-defense.

She brought the ECW to school on that day and posted a picture of it through a social media app during school hours. When informed by an anonymous student about the likelihood of Williams having the ECW on school grounds, school personnel immediately began to investigate, Boulter said.

The ECW was located on campus in one of her bags and notification was made to the police department. The school began immediate disciplinary action, while Simsbury police investigators gathered evidence, information and statements and applied for an arrest warrant, Boulter said.
Beyond carrying the weapon on school grounds, there were no other indicators that it was brought to school for other criminal activity, the captain added.
