Simsbury Students Sell Pot-Laced Brownies on Field Trip: Superintendent

School administrators and Massachusetts police are investigating the incident, which took place on a bus headed to Salem, Mass.

A field trip to Salem, Mass. was disrupted for some Simsbury High School juniors Friday morning after some students sold and distributed brownies laced with marijuana on the bus.

An 11th grade English Language Arts trip was delayed “due to a disciplinary matter while they were en route to Salem, Massachusetts for a field trip,” Superintendent of Schools Matt Curtis said in a written statement.

“This event involved the sale and distribution of marijuana laced brownies to a select group of students. The students that were involved in the event have been identified, the local police have been consulted, and the parents of the students involved in the event are being contacted,” Curtis wrote.

The Simsbury High School Resource Officer and a school administrator headed to Salem to assist with the investigation, Curtis wrote.

No further information was available pertaining to possible arrests or discipline.
