Simsbury Teens To Go To War (For Cupcakes)
The Simsbury Public Library Friday is hosting 'Teen Cupcake Wars' on Friday, which is a half day of school.

SIMSBURY, CT — War has been declared in Simsbury this week and local teens in grades 7-12 are the most impacted.
But don't worry, this war will be a piece of cake ... a cupcake.
Simsbury schools have a half day on Friday en route to a long Presidents Day weekend, so — to kickstart the weekend — the Simsbury Public Library is hosting "Teen Cupcake Wars."

It will take place at the library, located at 725 Hopmeadow St., from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
Despite the ominous-sounding name, this "war" is really about simply decorating cupcakes with various sweet, taste-tempting accessories.

But, while a fun endeavor, the cupcake war is also a competitive one.
"Teens will compete to decorate cupcakes and be judged based on their technique and creativity. Teens will work individually, but will work with food items," wrote the library.
"Teens with allergies and food sensitivities can attend, but should use caution."
The event is for teens in grades 7-12, is free and is being co-sponsored by the Simsbury Youth Services Bureau and the library.
Registration for "Teen Cupcake Wars" ends Friday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m.
