Simsbury Town Hall's Elevator Shut Down
It will be closed for 10 weeks for maintenance, forcing those with mobility issues to make special accommodations.
SIMSBURY, CT — The elevator at the Simsbury Town Hall/Simsbury Board of Education building is out of commission, with local leaders giving notice of the situation Thursday.
Workers closed the elevator on Thursday as they were starting up an extensive maintenance project of the lift, with the elevator expected to be closed for 10 weeks, according to the town.
As a result, visitors to the building — located at 933 Hopmeadow St. — will have to access upper floors via stairs, with special accommodations being made to work with those unable to use the stairs.
"During this time, the facility will not be accessible to persons with mobility issues; the only accessible level of the building will be the police lobby," wrote the Town of Simsbury Thursday.
