Simsbury Trojans Hall of Fame Inducts Class of 2018

The Simsbury High School (SHS) Athletics Department announces the Class of 2018 awardees for the Simsbury Trojans Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame Committee is sponsoring a golf outing/dinner fundraiser on October 7, 2017 and an induction celebration dinner on January 6, 2018, to which the public is invited to attend (see details below).

Director of Athletics and Student Activities Jeff Pinney said, “This is a time to celebrate the rich tradition of athletics in Simsbury and a great opportunity to bring the community together to celebrate all that we have to offer as a town.”

The Hall of Fame recognizes and honors those Simsbury High School athletes, coaches, administrators and supporters who excelled in their respective sports or coaching/support roles and who helped to bring honor, recognition, distinction, and excellence to Simsbury High School. There are several categories of awards: athlete, coach, administrator, athletic team, or community contributor. Since this is the first year, 7 athletes were chosen from more than 40 nominees; in subsequent years, the maximum number in this category will be 4.

The following awardees comprise the Simsbury Trojans Hall of Fame Class of 2018:

• James Bidwell - 1960
• Doug Cramphin - 1970
• Meghan Cunningham - 2007
• James Gallagher - 1952
• Mike Hood - 1995
• Sara Lombardi (Hendershot) - 2006
• George Mainville - 1949

TEAM AWARD: 1987 Girls’ Soccer Team

COACH/ADMINISTRATOR AWARD: Ed Lynch (SHS Golf Coach, 1982-2016)

COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTOR AWARD: Elmer Vincent, SHS Class of 1937 (Community Contributor for the years 1952-2002)

Plaques honoring the Class of 2018 will be permanently installed in a dedicated area of the athletics wing of the high school. Said Pinney, “These awardees represent amazing accomplishments both here at school and beyond. Their athletic accomplishments will provide goals and vision for our current athletes.”

He added, “No one on this list will be a surprise to anyone who follows Simsbury athletics.”
