Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Chief Completes Training Course

Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Chief James Baldis has completed “Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings,” a course sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security and administered by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

The four-day course covered identifying potential targets and pre-attack indicators, how to identify explosives and improvised explosive devices and how to respond safely to pre- and post-detonation incidents. Field laboratories allowed the students to observe, and sometimes handle, explosives and see the resulting damage from successful attacks. Baldis is now certified as a course instructor.
