Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company President Steve Petrella gave the President’s Award to the members of the Fire Company for “Going above and beyond the call of duty to provide an exceptional year of celebration for our members and our town.”

In celebration of their 75th Anniversary, the year began with the 75th Anniversary Road Race in April. The Fire Company has also sponsored a Chicken BBQ with historic carnival games, the Septemberfest Parade, and the traditional Torch Light Parade & Fireworks. They commemorated the 75th anniversary of the Hartford Circus Fire, where one of the Fire Company founders, Frank Bradley, and his wife, Helen, died.

The President’s Award was established in 1988 and is given annually to a firefighter or firefighters for outstanding service.
