Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Promotion, John Driscoll to Lieutenant

Fire Chief James Baldis of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company has announced the promotion of John Driscoll to Lieutenant at Tariffville station.

Driscoll joined the Fire Company as a Junior Firefighter in 2013 and became a Regular Firefighter in 2020. He was the Engineer on Haz Mat 33. Engineers are responsible for weekly inspections of the apparatus and its equipment to ensure that it is ready to respond. He is certified as a Firefighter II, Emergency Medical Technician and Hazardous Materials Operational, as well as holding a driver’s license Q endorsement for fire apparatus.

He follows in a family tradition of firefighting. He is the son of Honorary Life Member Lt. Dave Driscoll, the grandson of the late Honorary Life Member John “Jack” Driscoll, and the nephew of Honorary Life Member Capt. Rich Driscoll. He is employed by the Manchester Fire Department as a firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician.

Driscoll is a graduate of Central Connecticut State University with degrees in Criminology and Political Science.
