Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Promotions
Jason Gilbert, Steve Hess and Jason Loftus Assume New Duties

Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company Fire Chief James Baldis has announced the promotions of Captain Jason Gilbert to 2nd Assistant Chief, Lieutenant Steve Hess to Captain and Firefighter Jason Loftus to Lieutenant.
Gilbert leaves Firetown station to lead the training division and Hess will be the Captain at Firetown station while Loftus will be assigned to West Simsbury station.
All the officers are certified to the level of Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Operational and possess a State of Connecticut driver’s license with an endorsement to drive fire apparatus. Captains and Assistant Chiefs are required to have a management or supervisory course and obtain certification as Fire Service Instructor II and Fire Officer I by the end of 2020. Loftus has until 2020 to be certified as Fire Service Instructor I.

All three joined the Fire Company as a Junior Firefighter; Gilbert in 1997, Hess in 2001 and Loftus in 2006.
Second Assistant Chief Randall Chesanek retired after 32 years of service to the Fire Company.
