Simsbury Volunteer Firefighters Complete Firefighter I Course

Firefighters Thanh Mai and Chris Wahl, Firetown station, of the Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, have been certified Firefighter I by the State of Connecticut.

Fire Chief James Baldis said, “Thanh and Chris are dedicated firefighters who have a passion to learn all they can about the fire service and how to perform the required duties safely and effectively. It was evident in the outstanding results of their practical and written testing that was conducted by the Commission on Fire Prevention and Control who certify firefighters to State and National standards.”

The 160-hour course covers fire suppression, breathing apparatus, search and rescue, ladders, ropes, hydrant hook-up, and salvage and overhaul. The class prepares students to become on-line firefighters, trained in all phases of fire suppression.
