
The Simsbury High School Women’s Varsity Soccer team returned 13 players to its roster and ushered in 9 new players. The 13 returning players include five seniors, four juniors and four sophomores. Added to the ranks are one senior, three juniors, two sophomores and three freshmen.
Simsbury is coached by Jim Bayer and Holly Simeon. In their first game of the season at home at Holden Field, Simsbury scored first when Jordan Shugdinis, a junior, sent a shot from 30 yards out that skimmed the fingertips of the goalie. Avon scored late in the second half to send the teams into two five-minute overtimes. The game ended in a tie 1-1.
Simsbury plays in the CIAC, Central Connecticut Conference, Central Region, Class LL division, which includes Avon, Bulkeley, Conard, Farmington, Glastonbury, Hall, Northwest Catholic, Simsbury, Southington, Weaver, and Windsor.
