Simsbury Wrestler Places Well at State Open
A Trojan grappler was among seven placewinners from the north-central Connecticut area at the state championships Saturday in New Haven.

A pair of wrestlers from Somers High School were among four champions from north-central Connecticut at the State Open wrestling championships Saturday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.
Jacob Berry Parker won the 160 lb. title with a 3-2 decision over Andrew D’Amico of New Fairfield. Jackson Rheault then won the 195 lb. crown by besting Daniel Contino of Ledyard, 3-1.
Max Odell of South Windsor won a 3-1 decision over Joe Accousti of Newtown at 170 lbs., and Jordan Fletcher of Manchester copped a 3-2 decision over Seiji Arzuaga of Windham to capture the 220 lb. title.

Ryan Angers of Tolland (132 lbs.) and Jasper Stone of Simsbury (220 lbs.) each took fourth place, while Edward Fountain of Manchester was fifth at 285 lbs.
In team competition, South Windsor was tops among local squads with 56.5 points, good for 11th place. Somers tied for 13th, Manchester tied for 17th and Simsbury was 19th.
