Simsbury's Finest Celebrated At Police Union's First Awards Dinner

SIMSBURY, CT — The Simsbury Police Union Local 458held its first Iron Horse Union Awards Dinner on May 17 at the International Skating Center of Connecticut, recognizing officers and staff for their service and dedication to the community.

Union officials said the event celebrated the professionalism and commitment shown by members over the past year, including both notable acts of service and daily contributions to public safety in Simsbury.

“As part of the celebration, our members offered votes for Officer and Supervisor of the year,” the union said in a statement.

As a result, Simsbury police officer Jeremiah Kenney was recognized by fellow members as the union’s 2025 Officer of the Year, while J.P. Lessard received the 2025 Supervisor of the Year honor.

Union representatives also thanked the families, friends and supporters of police personnel, saying their support plays “an important role in the work we do.”

Organizers said they plan to continue the awards dinner as an annual tradition.
