Simsbury's Kevin Foster Wins Senior Open

Now holds the title of two-time amateur champion.

Simsbury resident Kevin Foster won the 31st Connecticut Senior Open title by firing a two-round 138 (-4) at Shennecossett Golf Club in Groton on Monday and Tuesday, according to the Hartford Courant.

In winning the title, Foster, 59, became the first two-time amateur champion in the tournament’s history (he also won the title in 2004). He won over a field comprising 29 amateurs and 49 professionals, according to the Connecticut PGA website.

Foster sealed the victory with a 2-under 69 on Tuesday. He finished two shots ahead of professionals Jerry Courville and Ralph Salito (140). Courville won a playoff to take home the $3,000 prize for the top professional, while Foster won a $400 merchandise from the Shennecossett Golf Club pro shop.
