Simsbury's Old Drake Hill Flower Bridge: THE REHABILITATION HAS BEGUN

After approval in the May referendum, work has been underway to rehabilitate the Flower Bridge. If you've driven past on Riverside or Drake Hill Roads, you've probably noticed the scaffolding, the white containment system over the east side of the Bridge, and the parking lot filled with all manner of equipment required to rehabilitate and repaint this Bridge, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, suspended over the designated Wild and Scenic lower Farmington River.

After some years of planning and investigation, working through Federal, State and Local regulations by the Engineering Department, the project has begun with protection for our workers, the wildlife, and the river. The nonprofit 501 (c) 3 ODHFB Committee is documenting the process from beginning to end. Lani Ralston, the videographer has made a series of, to date, 20 short videos which are posted to a playlist on YouTube where you may watch the rehab unfold.
