Simsbury's Popular Food Explorers Program To Look At Fruity Desserts

The next multi-week session of the children's cooking series starts on Friday, Feb. 28.

SIMSBURY, CT — The town's recreation department is starting a new session this week of its popular Food Explorers program, which this time around is dealing with fruity desserts.

The cooking program, hosted by the Simsbury Culture, Parks and Recreation Department, will have itsnext Food Explorers session starting Friday, Feb. 28.

Food Explorers, which is for children in grades 3-6, takes them into the kitchen and teaches them the basics of cooking, all in a fun and hands-on manner.

For this itineration of the program, "Fruity Delights" is the theme, with all sorts of fruit theme deserts planned.

For example, participants will be making lemon-blueberry doughnuts, mango croissant bites, as well as peaches-and-cream pie, among other treats.

The program is based at the depart

ment's Apple Barn site on 60 Old Farm Road and it will be from 5 to 6 p.m. each session on Friday.

Classes are Feb. 28 to March 28, though there will be no class on March 14, resulting in an additional class on April 3.

Fees are $100 per person.
