Singer-songwriter Kris Delmhorst will give a free performance at Westminster School May 20 at 7 p.m. in the Gund Reading Room of the school’s Armour Academic Center that is open to the public. It is part of a series of readings, lectures and concerts held at Westminster during the academic year that is underwritten in part by The Ensign Bickford Foundation. The opening act will be a faculty band featuring guitarist Lee Zalinger and singer-songwriter Grant Gritzmacher.
An internationally touring songwriter, Delmhorst has released six albums on the Signature Sounds label. On May 13, she will release her seventh album, “Blood Test,” her first of original music since 2008’s critically acclaimed album “Shotgun Singer.” A prolific writer and constant collaborator, she lives in western Massachusetts and is married to songwriter Jeffrey Foucault, with whom she occasionally performs as part of the collective Redbird.
Refreshments will be served after the presentation and ample parking will be available in the parking lot adjacent to the Armour Academic Center. Westminster School is located at 995 Hopmeadow St. in Simsbury.
