State Police Release Holiday Highway Enforcement Statistics
More than 500 accidents, including four fatalities, were reported during a five-day stretch.

Connecticut State Police have released statistics on the first portion of this year's holiday highway enforcement operation, which started on Dec. 22 at 12:01 a.m. and will run until 11:59 p.m. on Jan. 2, 2017.
Troopers are conducting enforcement patrols throughout the state on both highways and secondary roads. In addition, sobriety checkpoints will continue to be set up in an effort to deter anyone from the consumption of alcohol and driving heading into New Year.
Statistics are from Dec. 22 at 12:01 a.m. through Dec. 26 at 11:59 p.m.:

- Accidents: 528 (58 with injuries)
- Serious Injury: 1 (I-91 exit 12 North Haven)
- Fatality: 4 (I-84 exit 7 Danbury car vs pedestrian; Route 8 exit 27 Naugatuck car vs pedestrian; I-691 exit 5 Meriden; Hartland)
- DUI arrests: 47
- Speeding: 579
- Seatbelt: 50
- All moving violations (to include following too close, distracted driving, cell phones, etc.): 1,596
- Motorist assists (flat tires, broken down and disabled vehicles): 436
- Total calls for service: 8,046
Christmas 2015 stats:
- Accidents: 461 (56 with injuries)
- Fatalities: 5
- DUI arrests: 40
- Speeding: 621
- Seatbelt: 36
- All moving violations: 1,563
