State Tournament Play to Open for Simsbury

SIMSBURY, CT — Cross country is over, swimming brackets will be announced later this week and football still has three games to go, but four other sports begin their state tournaments over the next three days, with three involving teams from Simsbury High School.

Listed in order of better seeds, here is the upcoming tournament schedule for Trojan teams:

• field hockey (L): No. 13 Simsbury at No. 4 Norwalk, Wed., 11/8, 6 p.m.
• girls soccer (LL): No. 17 Simsbury at No. 16 Amity Regional, Tues., 11/7, 2 p.m.
• girls volleyball (LL): No. 21 Simsbury at No. 12 South Windsor, Mon., 11/6, 6 p.m.

Here are the records for those teams in state championship game history:

• field hockey: 7-5 (last title, 2008)
• girls soccer: 7-6 (last title, 2005)
• girls volleyball: 0-1
