String of Auto Thefts and Burglaries Reported In Simsbury [VIDEO]

Police are urging residents to lock their vehicles and not leave holiday gifts or valuables inside.

SIMSBURY, CT — Simsbury police are reminding residents to lock their vehicles after a string of car thefts and burglaries in recent days.

On its Facebook page Monday morning, the department posted a pair of vehicles had been stolen in the past five days, both unlocked with keys/fob left inside. Police also reported numerous other unlocked vehicles had been entered, with items stolen or rummaged through, on Pine Hill Drive, Branch Brook Road, Massaco Street, Horseshoe Circle and Hopmeadow Street.

Police have also listed some tips to avoid these types of incidents:

  • Lock your car
  • Do not leave keys/fobs in your car
  • Do not hide/leave holiday gifts or items of value in your car
  • Call the police immediately if you see any suspicious activity
  • Use motion sensors in your driveway
  • Use car alarm systems
