The Simsbury DAR and a nearby Catholic school teamed up to deliver a lot of love this Valentine's Day to McLean in Simsbury.

SIMSBURY, CT — It was a sweet month for the fine folks at one Simsbury health care/rehabilitation center.
Thanks to the generosity of the local Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) chapter and Bristol-based St. Joseph Catholic School, many elderly residents at McLean, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, had a happy Valentine's Day.
The Daughters of the American Revolution, Abigail Phelps Chapter, and St. Joseph Catholic School pupils rolled up their sleeves and went to work making and delivering personalized Valentine's Day cards for residents at the nursing facility.

But this initiative aimed to brighten up the days of some folks, who, no doubt, were ecstatic at what they were given, which was much, much more than just a card and candy.
"We wanted to remind residents that they're valued members of our community. Small acts of kindness can make a huge difference on this special day. We just wanted to bring a smile to every resident's face," said Simsbury DAR Women's Issues co-chairperson Abigail Vacca.
