Tariffville Fire Causes Significant Damage to House

Early morning fire on Crestview Road appears to have started in the area of the trash containers outside the home.

An early morning house fire at 15 Crestview Road consumed the garage and caused heavy damage to the attic. The three occupants were alerted to the fire by neighbors and were able to evacuate the house before the fire department arrived.

The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 4:47 am call and the fire was under control in 30 minutes, according to Deputy Chief Kevin Kowalski. Bloomfield Fire Department and Avon Volunteer Fire Department each sent an engine for standby.

The fire appears to have started in the area of the trash containers outside the home. The cause is under investigation by the Simsbury Fire Marshal’s office.
