Teen Writing Workshop at Simsbury Public Library
Local author, Alexis Zinkerman, will guide teens with prompts to journal their experiences in this workshop. RSVP requested.

The author of Brooklyn's Song, a novella about a teen who heals from a friend’s suicide through the use of poetry, will give a writing workshop for teens on finding their own story within. By exploring their lives through guided journal prompts, teens will begin to notice their obsessions, curiosities, and the moments in their lives that were all important. We will write and read aloud our writings to find out what people liked best.
Author and workshop leader, Alexis Zinkerman, a resident of Simsbury until age 18 when she left for college, Zinkerman is a University of Hartford grad with a degree in journalism and English, she holds a MA in Writing from DePaul University and an MLIS from Dominican University in River Forest, IL. Past times include: photography, running, fitness training, reading teen lit, cooking, yoga, and meditation.
After the workshop, Zinkerman will sell and sign copies of her novella in poetry Brooklyn’s Song for $5.
