Three Local Bands in the Spotlight

There are two local bands that have made it into the final four —down from 20 semi-finalists — in a contest to see who will open for Bon Jovi when they play Mohegan Sun on May 7.

Carrie Johnson and Little House are in competition with out of towners Rivera and Lakshmi.

UPDATE 4/29: Lakshmi won the contest.

The four will battle it out Thursday, April 28 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Black Bear Saloon, 187 Allyn Street in Hartford, to see who will be the opening act.

Black Bear and 96.5 TIC FM are sponsoring the contest.

In other local music news, Max Creek is playing at The Old Well, 20 Tariffiville Road in Simsbury, to celebrate its 40^th anniversary. The show beings at 9 p.m., also on Thursday, April 28. Band member Mark Mercier is director of music ministries at First Church of Christ in Simsbury.
