Tom Post recognized for 50 years with Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company

The Simsbury Volunteer Fire Company, Simsbury Auxiliary and Simsbury Fire District gave 25 service awards this year.

Recognized for 50 years of service was Firefighter Tom Post, Main station, with 13,896 callouts. In 2018 a junior firefighter award was created and named for Post, who was instrumental in forming the program.

Chief James Baldis, 10,984 callouts, was recognized for 45 years of service. Firefighters Tim Gilbert, Main station, 5,925 callouts; and Mark Jacobs, Firetown station, 7,244 callouts; have served 40 years. Thirty-year awards went to Lt. Robert Rust, Bushy Hill station, 5,663 callouts; and Capt. Rich Driscoll, Main station, 7,565 callouts.

Capt. Todd Myers, Bushy Hill station, 4,275 callouts; and Firefighter Adam Libros, Firetown station, 3,196 callouts; had 25 years of service. Capt. Vic Civitillo, Weatogue station, 2,531 callouts; Firefighter Jay Dixon, Bushy Hill station, 2,858 callouts; and Firefighter Nick Civitillo, Firetown station, 1,583 callouts; were recognized for 20 years of service.

Ten-year awards went to Firefighters Jeff Holmes, Tariffville station, 3,539 callouts; and Richard Callahan, Firetown station, 2,170 callouts. Five-year awards went to Firefighters Gianni Zunino, Main station, 540 callouts; Erik Vath, Firetown station, 655 callouts; Tommy Jacobs, Firetown station, 834 callouts; John Driscoll, Weatogue station, 689 callouts; and Brian Tomaska, West Simsbury station, 586 callouts.

The five Auxiliary members honored were: Bobbie Kowalski, 45 years; Bonnie Anderson, 25 years; and Colleen O’Connor, Maxine Talbot and Kristin Lilley, 10 years.

The Simsbury Fire District recognized two employees with service milestones: Lorraine Morelli, 25 years and Ruth Senger, 15 years.
