Town Of Simsbury Intern Makes Her Mark At Town Hall
The UConn public policy student recently completed a comprehensive guidebook and policy regarding how the town manages volunteers.

SIMSBURY, CT — Town officials are praising a University of Connecticut intern for formalizing how the town processes and utilizes community volunteers.
It all culminated on May 13 when Jessica Power, a UConn School of Public Policy intern working in the Simsbury Town Manager's office, gave the Simsbury Board of Selectmen an update on her work.

Power discussed the need for a formal policy regarding town volunteers and presented selectmen with a volunteer handbook, position guidebook and volunteer application.
She created the policy literature after researching how comparable communities to Simsbury handle volunteers.

Simsbury officials said Power's work made a difference.
"Because of her work, Simsbury has modernized and streamlined volunteer processing, and developed a standard informational guide for prospective volunteers," wrote the town.
