Witness: She Wanted Me to Kill Her Ex-, Said She'd Kill Me
Handyman John McDaid testified that Tiffany Stevens constantly asked him about arranging to murder her ex-husband.

A Simsbury handyman with a criminal record told a court in Hartford on Monday that Tiffany Stevens of Bloomfield urged him to kill her ex-husband, Eric Stevens of Simsbury, or find someone who would, according to a report in the Hartford Courant.
John McDaid testified that Stevens offered him $5,000 to get the job done. He said he never seriously considered going through with either finding a killer or becoming one, but he led her along and received the money. Eventually, he said, she also threated to kill him and his children.

She also constantly asked him for drugs, he testified.

A woman accused of trying to hire someone to kill her ex-husband, a Simsbury man, was scheduled to begin Tuesday at Superior Court in Hartford, according to a report in the Hartford Courant.
Tiffany Stevens was arrested in Bloomfield, where she was then living, in 2012 and has been awaiting trial since then.

According to an arrest warrant affadavit on file at the Superior Court in Enfield, Tiffany Stevens paid a man $5,000 to kill her ex-husband, Eric Stevens of Simsbury, following a bitter divorce.
The couple filed for divorce in 2009 and were later involved in a custody struggle for their daughter, now 9 years old. Tiffany has had custody of the girl and also maintains control of $50 million in holdings set aside for the custodial parent, according to the warrant.
Simsbury Police were given an incriminating recording of Stevens discussing the purchase of prescription drugs and the murder of Eric Stevens, according to the warrant.
