Two Grade-6 Simsbury Youth Football Trojans Join CT National Team

Simsbury youth football players, Colby Lancaster (#62) and James McGrady (#12) have been selected to play on the 6th Grade Connecticut State National Championship Football Team.

Football University (FBU), hosts the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade youth football national championship which begins on December 6 at selected locations throughout the United States.

Colby and James both play for the Simsbury Trojan Youth Football program and just completed there regular season schedule.

Colby, who plays tackle on offense and defense, and James, who plays quarterback and linebacker, were both scouted during their regular season play by FBU’s Regional Director and Scout who was very impressed with their level of play.

FBU offered the boys a formal invitation to tryout for the CT 6th grade National Championship Team. Colby and James competed against football players residing from New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut all trying to win one of the limited roster spots on the team. After 10 hours of grueling tryouts, both were notified that they had secured starting positions on the team.

The CT 6th National Team begins it’s drive for the National Championship on December 6 at Ludlowe High School in Fairfield, CT at 8 a.m. T

heir first round opponent will be the Long Island National Team. On December 7, their second round opponent will be the New Jersey National Team.

The winner of the first and second round will advance to Alexandria, Virginia on Dec. 13 for the 3rd and 4th round. The winner of that bracket will be one of the final 4 teams to advance to Naples, Florida for the final round and a National Championship Trophy.

Colby and James are proud to represent Simsbury on the CT State National Championship Team.
