Two Walker's Teams Selected for New England Tournaments

Walker's Soccer and Field Hockey Teams Advance to New England Tournaments

Both Walker's varsity soccer and varsity field hockey teams were selected to the New England Prep School Athletic Conference (NEPSAC) Postseason Tournament. The NEPSAC Tournament invites only eight teams from each class to compete in the postseason tournament for each sport. Classes are determined based on the size of the school.

For the second year in a row, the varsity field hockey team was chosen as the #1 seed in the Class C Tournament. Coach Mimi Duran brings a veteran team into the tournament, with a senior class that has played in the postseason the past three seasons. After being Western New England Champions and compiling a record of 14-4-1 in the regular season, Walker's takes on Portsmouth Abbey, the #8 seed, on Wednesday, November 15, at Walker's Simsbury campus at 2:15 p.m.

The varsity soccer team will travel to Kimball Union Academy in New Hampshire for a Wednesday afternoon game at 2:00 p.m. Coach Todd D'Alessandro and his team earned a #5 seed in the Class C tournament after finishing the season 9-5-6. It is the first trip to the tournament since 2008 for the soccer program.

"Selection into the NEPSAC Tournament is a great accomplishment," said Athletic Director John Monagan. "To have one of our teams selected is a great honor. To have two really speaks to the work that our girls and coaches put into their fall seasons. We are really proud of the way that Coach Duran and Coach D'Alessandro have built their programs, and we are looking forward to seeing them compete this week."

Quarterfinal games are on Wednesday, November 15, with potential semi-final and championship games occurring Saturday, November 18 and Sunday, November 19.
