WATCH: Simsbury PD Shows Folks Dangers Of Winter Driving

With the weekend's storm now in Simsbury's rearview mirror, the SPD Monday issued a video offering folks winter driving tips.

SIMSBURY, CT — The several inches of snow that fell on the state over the weekend will likely be melted away by mid-week, thanks to mild temperatures and a predicted rainstorm.

But weather like last Saturday and Sunday (and, even, Monday) will be the norm for the next two or three months, so winter weather is only getting started this season.

As a result, the Simsbury Police Department has done more than just tell folks how to keep safe when driving in the winter.

Simsbury Police Officer Patrick Gronski is showing folks what to do and what to look out for.

The SPD posted a one-minute video of Gronski navigating the roadways of Simsbury on Monday after cleanup of the weekend snowstorm made roads passable again.

And, as Gronski points out, just because the sun is out and the snow is no longer falling, doesn't mean the roads are completely safe.

For starters, he said, the roadways are narrow and that requires folks to pay attention and unexpected piles of slush, ice, and snow on the roadways can create hazards.

He also warns folks to keep their vehicles cleare of snow and ice, which can add further hazards.
