Water Main Work Causing Temporary Disruptions In Simsbury

A water main was replaced last year in some parts of Simsbury and the water company this week has started the hook-up process.

SIMSBURY, CT — An ongoing water main replacement project is underway in Simsbury, with residents of one neighborhood facing some service disruptions and motorists facing some traffic issues.

Simsbury officials said a water main was replaced last year on Dominique Lane, Lawton Drive and Shaw Drive.

And now, the Aquarion Water Co. is back in the area connect customers to the new main, a process that started on Monday, March 27.

Final paving will then be scheduled in coordination with the town.

The project, which replaced approximately 3,650 feet of water main, is part of Simsbury's ongoing program to improve Aquarion’s water distribution system and to ensure the highest quality water.

The upgrades will also help to reduce leaks and water main breaks that can cause service interruptions.

Due to construction, customers should expect minor traffic delays and possible detours during the working hours of 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Mizzy Construction of Plainville will be serving as the contractor for the water main replacement project.

To keep customers informed about scheduled/unscheduled work, Aquarion utilizes an Everbridge notification system to call affected customers.
