Week of Nov. 13: Rep. Hampton welcomes visitors to State Capitol

During the week of Nov. 13, state Rep. John Hampton welcomed students from The Master's School and a new U.S. citizen to the State Capitol.

During the week of Nov. 13, state Rep. John Hampton, D-Simsbury, was honored to receive visits from area students, the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut and a new U.S. citizen.

During his visit with The Master's School, Hampton explained how the legislative process works, potential bills that will be introduced during the 2018 regular session and encouraged students to become politically involved.

On Nov. 14, Hampton joined Secretary of the State Denise Merrill to congratulate Claudette Hagan of Tariffville on recently becoming a U.S. citizen. She was also presented with a United States flag that was flown over the State Capitol in her honor.

The following day, Hampton received the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut's State Representative of the Year award. The award is an annual recognition that is presented to a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives who champions public policy efforts that allow the trucking industry to remain competitive in the state.
