Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

  • Eighteen Eastern Connecticut State University business administration students traveled to Rome and Perugia, Italy, from May 22 to June 3 to study international business. Among the students was Kaylee West of Tariffville, who majors in Business Administration. Prior to the trip, Professor Emiliano Villanueva led the class "International Business in an International Setting," where students researched a range of topics related to business in Italy. Upon their return, students submitted in-depth, 20-page reports reflecting on their experiences in Italy. Topics spanned the geography, history and culture of Italy, as well as Italian politics, business etiquette and economic opportunities.

Rochester Institute of Technology, Rochester NY

  • A half-dozen Simsbury residents made the Dean's List at Rochester Institute of Technology for the 2019 spring semester: Nicholas Zonenberg, game design and development; Nathan Palmer, mechanical engineering; Jack Tighe, electrical engineering; Timothy Preskenis, biomedical engineering; Dan Schenk, mechanical engineering; and Julie Sojkowski, computer science. Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

St. Lawrence University, Canton NY

  • A pair of students from Simsbury have been selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the spring 2019 semester at St. Lawrence University. Katherine B. Angus, a member of the Class of 2020, is majoring in English, and Kari T. Hyyppa, a member of the Class of 2021, is majoring in multifield bachelor of arts. To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must have completed at least four courses and have an academic average of 3.6 based on a 4.0 scale for the semester.
