Seussical Jr. Performances

SIMSBURY- Students at Henry James Memorial School will present Seussical Jr. on Thursday, March 16th, Friday, March 17th and Saturday, March 18th at 7pm and a matinee on Saturday, March 18th at 2pm. The Thursday performance is sensory friendly and open to all ages. The performances will take place at Simsbury High School, 34 Farms Village Road, Simsbury, Connecticut.

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that's been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!

Last year, Henry James Memorial School’s award winning production team’s Lion King Jr. was selected as the New England Theatre Conference's outstanding youth theatre production for 2015-16.

There are two casts of 7th and 8th grade students in alternating shows. Lead roles are played by Will Schmitz and AJ Caggiano (Horton), Augustus Glick and Liam Tagliatela (JoJo), Katherine Bonnell and Rebecca Brown (Gertrude McFuzz), Sutton Kaylor and Savannah Beckius (Cat in the Hat), Olivia Loxton and Eva Pfeiffer (Mayzie), Joao Galafassi and Truscio (Mr. Mayor), Ashley Heinrich and Emma Windisch (Mrs. Mayor), Rachel Kiel and Katie Winkleblack (Sour Kangaroo), Eddie O’Sullivan (Young Kangaroo), Isabelle Bolles, Keeley Flaherty, Olivia Gallo, Hope Lauben, Clara Steele and Violet Trouern-Trend (Bird Girls), Alice Salvatore (Dr. Dake), Rafael Diaz, Dylan Niehay, Gabe Rutland, Pranav Seshadri, Zach Seymour and Alex Vargas (Wickersham Brothers), Ryan Laubscher (Vlad Vladikoff), Joshua Kiel (Yertle the Turtle) and Julia Polizzi (The Grinch).
