SOUTHBURY, CT – The Southbury Celebration for 2020 has been canceled due to public health restrictions in place to safeguard against the coronavirus pandemic, officials announced Tuesday.

In a post on the Town of Southbury Facebook page, officials said the event has occurred annually since 1999 and has been attended by more than 4,000 people each year.

The event is hosted by the town of Southbury and the Southbury Training School and is a celebration of the local community. It typically features food, music and fireworks. Due to guidance issued on Aug. 14 by the state of Connecticut, fireworks events must be limited to 500 people.
